Welcome to CHIP governance

Use this forum to discuss protocol policy, develop proposals and track implementation.

Governance has five functions:

  1. Originations — Loan pricing, LTV limits, eligible equipment and general financing requirements.
  2. Underwriting — ComputeIQ methodology, scoring weights, eligibility thresholds and supporting evidence.
  3. Liquidity & Settlement — sUSDai utilization, reserves, deployment conditions, redemptions, integrations and incentives.
  4. Capital Markets — GLX loan sales, participant roles, execution terms, pricing, compensation and settlement.
  5. Authority — Proposal requirements, governor settings, delegation, voting and implementation responsibilities.

How to use the forum

Choose the relevant category. Identify your topic as:

  • Framework: standing policy
  • Discussion: a possible change open for feedback
  • Proposal: a defined amendment submitted for approval

A label does not make a policy effective. The Current Policy & Parameters reference for each category should identify the active version, effective date and supporting decisions.

Proposals follow these stages: Draft → Discussion → Voting → Approved or Rejected → Implemented.

What to include

Describe the exact change, evidence, expected effects and risks. State relevant conflicts, the proposed voting route, implementation owner and effective date. Link related discussions and dashboards.

Respect existing contracts. Include the required legal and technical assessment before a material change takes effect.

Voting and implementation

A forum post does not change protocol policy or contracts.

The intended Short/Routine route records policy votes on-chain. These votes do not directly change protocol contracts. State who will implement an approved decision and how.

The Long/High Impact route concerns CHIP and sCHIP contract governance. Execution depends on the permissions of the governor and timelock.

Check the effective rules for each proposal. Proposed settings are not active until approval and execution are complete.

Snapshot’s role in the final process remains to be confirmed. Do not assume a Snapshot vote is required or equivalent to a Short governor vote.

After approval, record completed actions, supporting evidence and remaining work in the proposal topic.
